Introducing Chattanooga's first container home, a striking example of refined industrial design, sustainability, and structural innovation. Constructed from seven repurposed shipping containers, this 2,000-square-foot residence blends clean lines, warm materials, and thoughtful architecture into a truly one-of-a-kind urban retreat.
Designed with biophilic principles, the home intentionally connects people with nature. Green roofs and living terraces provide the highest-rated thermal insulation, while managing stormwater runoff, improving air quality, reducing noise, and supporting biodiversity--all while expanding usable outdoor space in an urban setting. Low-maintenance micro fescue and micro clover enhance the eco-friendly design with reduced water and fertilizer needs, high traffic tolerance, weed suppression, shade tolerance, natural pest resistance, and attract pollinators.
Built for exceptional strength and longevity, the structure rests on 27 concrete piers, each 30 inches in diameter and set five feet into the ground. 1/2-inch integrated steel plate caps each pier and six heavy steel beams support the cantilevered primary suite, with all seven containers welded together into a single, solid unit--engineered for durability and resilience.
Inside, the aesthetic is best described as refined industrial: a soft, warm palette cradled by industrial materials in a fluid, intentional way. An open floor plan, expansive windows, and abundant natural light highlight white oak flooring, high-gloss modern cabinetry, matte white appliances, and custom lighting throughout. Spa-inspired bathrooms feature teak shower floors and walls, a soaking tub, and custom vanities, creating a serene contrast to the urban setting.
Situated on a double lot in Downtown's Southside / Highland Park area, the completely fenced yard with an electric gate is both pet-friendly and private, offering a rare combination of space, security, and tranquility.
